Paver Thickness – Installing paver for your patio, you must care about the paver thickness. The thickness of the paving material can influence the quality of the paver. Sometime the land at your backyard is not stable. It can experience the abrasion. To avoid that phenomenon, you should measure the thickness of the paving material. If you are using concrete, there must be a standard thickness of concrete. In the other hand, if you are using brick as the pavers, there is also safety standard of brick.
Paver Thickness for Resistible Paver in Any Different Area
There are some differences between paver for pedestrian area and patio area. The difference is influenced by the frequency of usage. We know, in pedestrian area, people always use it because there is no more space for them to walk. The patio paver should be less thick than the pedestrian area. The standard of paver thickness for patio is about 2-inch. Actually, if it is compared with the pedestrian area paver, the last paver I said has a thicker shape with about 2 3/8-inch thick.
There is a standard requirement regulated by the American government with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). It launches the regulation and minimum specification of the paving material. It should have average compressive strength for about 8,000 psi. The standard of average absorption must be less than 5%. Moreover, it must have at least 50 freeze-thaw cycles resistances with regular material loss surpassing 1%.
The last requirement is confirmative to the abrasion resistance test. Those are standard requirements of paving material which officially ruled by the government. If you want to make paver for your patio, it is better for your concrete material. We know concrete has good quality and appeal at once. It is better than others. Actually the concrete paver thickness is better than other material and already surpasses the official requirement.
